The Paul Simon Institute at SIU welcomes prominent business executive from Chicago

On April 11, 2024, John W. Rogers Jr., a leading Chicago business executive and philanthropist, will visit Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute to discuss his career in business, public service, and philanthropy. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the SIU School of Law Auditorium, Room 120, with a reception planned from 4 to 5 p.m. in the law school’s formal lounge. Registration is recommended but not required to attend the lecture.

Rogers is the founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, the first Black-owned asset management firm in the United States, managing nearly $15 billion in assets. Shaw expressed eagerness to hear about Rogers’ successful career and his contributions to the community. The conversation will focus on Ariel Investments’ pioneering concepts such as active patience, independent thinking, focused expertise, and bold teamwork. Additionally, Rogers will offer suggestions for SIU students preparing for their professional careers.
