Ferrari and SK On collaborate to enhance cell technology

On Wednesday, electric vehicle battery maker SK On, affiliated with SK Group, announced a partnership with Italian sports car maker Ferrari to drive innovation in battery cell technology. The memorandum of understanding was signed at SK’s headquarters building in Seoul on Tuesday, with SK On CEO Lee Seok-hee and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna present at the event.

SK On has been an exclusive battery supplier to Ferrari since 2019, providing battery cells for Ferrari’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles such as the SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider, 296 GTB, and 296 GTS. The collaboration between SK On and Ferrari aims to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation in the field of electric vehicle technology by exploring new avenues and potential solutions to advance battery cell technology.

By leveraging their respective expertise, the two companies plan to expand their technological collaboration and exchange valuable insights. Lee expressed excitement about joining Ferrari’s electrification journey and highlighted the goal of offering customers new experiences and values through the partnership.
