From Culinary Nutrition to Coffee Empire: The Journey of Asher’s Coffee Beans in Roanoke.

New Downtown Coffee Shop Brews Fresh Coffee

Jacob Asher Galbraith, a native of Northern Virginia, is the owner of Asher’s Coffee Beans located at the corner of Fifth Street and Campbell Avenue in Old Southwest. Pursuing a career in the food and beverage industry, Galbraith holds a degree in culinary nutrition from Johnson & Wales University. He has worked as a chef at Wilderness Adventure in New Castle and headed dining services at Springtree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Roanoke before launching his coffee business in 2021.

Galbraith started with events at a hardware store in Salem before expanding his reach to farmer’s markets and wholesaling. He recently opened the store where he roasts his own beans using an Aillio Bullet drum roaster at the LEAP kitchen. The shop offers 17 different blends and single origin coffees sourced from around the world. The top seller is currently a low-acid roast from Peru. Asher’s Coffee Beans is located at 425 Campbell Ave S.W. in Roanoke.
